Our Philosophy at St. Joseph's House of Grace:
We believe that the process of dying is a stage of life that should be validated. Our volunteers have been specially trained in the skill of active listening, and will emotionally be where the patient is... sharing our patient’s joys, depressions, fears, and reminiscences.
While we are not a Hospice facility, all patients will be pre-enrolled in the hospice program and receive full hospice services. Meals-on-Wheels provides afternoon and evening meals, but we also have a fully stocked kitchen and our volunteers and family members are encouraged to prepare meals as well.
Each of the two patient bedrooms has a couch bed that families can use at will. Amanda’s House, less than a block away, has private bedrooms for families of our patients. There is no charge for the stay, but there is a time limit.
St. Joseph’s House of Grace receives no funding. As a nonprofit organization, we are totally dependent on the generosity of our community for support.
